Elegant Shipping Phils., Inc.

It was an outpour of blessing during the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Elegant Shipping, Phils., Inc. attended by no less than Bishop Teodoro Bacani and Bella E. Dimayuga, President, Bellestar Promotion on December 8, 2011 at Amvel Business Park, Sucat, Paranaque.

Unlike other shipping companies in the country, Elegant Shipping have fifteen (15) newly built vessels in its fleet, designed and engineered by its partner, Orient Shipping Company of Korea, with the latest state of the art equipment on board.

In his inspirational talk, Engr. Jorge Blasquez, CEO, Southern Institute of Maritine Studies mentioned: “Out of the 16 Billion US dollars in OFW remittances that came into the Philippines, around 3 billion were contributed by the maritine sector.

“This only means that in order to preserve our dominance in the world as seaferers, and sustain our growth momentum, we need to be competitive – in terms of knowledge, technical skills and cost of deployment – with the least burden on our seafearers.

“As the world’s top supplier of seafearers, it is always a challenge for us to maintain a competent and certified seaferers for the international seaborne trade.

“We need to be proactive and need always to be resilient to change. It is because, the globalization and presence of foreign competition has always been the source of pressure for the Philippines seafearing industry to improve itself and maintain its leading position in the seafearing world.”

Among those present were: Kwangsu Kim, Executive Managing Director, Oriental Precision & Engineering Co., Ltd., government officials including the Governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mondanao, family members and friends of Elegant Shipping officials and media personalities. The representatives of Orient Shipping Company of Korea, while Elegant Shipping was represented by Edna Taruc, Chairperson/Finance Director; Engr. Lucilo D. Cabrera, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer; Capt. Amado Dumam-ag, Jr., EVP and Managing Director; Capt. Franciso T. Galo, EVP Adminstration; Hidelito M. Sisona, SPE, Vice-President for Operations; and Rogelio O. Casanova, VP-Business Administration.
